Dawn A Crawford – Principal Communicator
I’ve dedicated my career to nonprofit communications and marketing. Before becoming an independent consultant for BC/DC Ideas, I served in various communications leadership roles for the Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition, Exempla Healthcare and the Kempe Foundation. A true communicator at heart, I found my niche in social media where I’m a weaver of words and a passionate community builder. I garden to make the world a more beautiful place, love living in the South, and live every day as if it were my last.
Claim to fame: I am the only non-Star Wars character followed by the Death Star on Twitter – yep, your assumptions are correct. See it at http://www.twitter.com/death_star.
Brian Crawford – Creative Director
I am a word slinger and a creative sensei. I draw upon my experience as a copywriter for working on brands including Procter & Gamble, Polaris, IBM and MillerCoors. For BC/DC Ideas have expanded my creative vision to video production where I make stories come to life.
When I’m not writing you can find me sketching (I draw tragic sea monsters), taking pictures of my world, I amplify the good and never shy away from a good fight.
Claim to fame: I was selected to attend an exclusive tweet-up to see the launch of a NASA space shuttle, read about my social experience.
Tara Connolly – Copywriter & Social Media Manager
I have crafted compelling communications, strategy and development initiatives for more than 15 nonprofit organizations and ventures across North Carolina. I bring a penchant for community, relationship-building, and a broad array of professional skills to each project. I have been named one of “10 New Nonprofit Voices” by Chronicle of Philanthropy and graduated with honors from NC State in 2010 earning a B.A. in Arts Studies and a minor in Journalism.
Julia Simpson – Intern
I am a senior advertising major at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since I have been at Carolina, I have truly fallen in love with creative communications. There is nothing more fulfilling than a fervent brainstorming session with peers. However, I have determined that I’m a lot more driven when I know the work I am creating will make a lasting impact that benefits the world.
When I am not working as a devoted intern for BC/DC Ideas, you might find me baking (or gawking at recipes online), crafting, playing with Chapel Hill’s cutest pup, Tucker, and relishing the final days of my college career.
